Artist Statement

I am a Houston-based contemporary artist working primarily in oil-based ink, acrylic, and mixed media on canvas and paper.

My paintings explore faith, loneliness, desire, and the need to be seen. My process is physical, intuitive, and layered — I use paint, plaster, drawing materials, found textures, and reclaimed surfaces, allowing each work to develop through accumulation, destruction, and revision. I scrape, cover, preserve accidents, and leave imperfections visible. These marks become a record of thought, time, damage, and repair.

I am drawn to the tension between the ordinary and the sacred, the beautiful and the grotesque, sincerity and absurdity. I believe these opposites can exist within the same image because they already exist within every person.

At the center of my practice is a belief in human dignity. Art should do more than decorate life or imitate what is fashionable. It should help us pay attention, preserve what is vulnerable, and confront what has been ignored.

My paintings are invitations to slow down, look closely, and encounter another human presence without reducing it to a category, explanation, or screen.
